How to add to your family the adoption way
It's a very personal decision isn't it? Adding to your family in the traditional sense is overwhelming within itself, but when you decide, perhaps due to reasons out of your control, to adopt it's an entirely new ballgame. Lorick and I have been together nearly 4 years. We are engaged and so very happy and in love. He owns his own business that we built together with the help of his business partner Dave over the last two years, and gets to work from home to be with our son. I work for the State of NY at a local state hospital which offers us great benefits and security. Things are wonderful, and still we are left wanting, wanting to add a member to our family. There is such a momentous amount of information out there for those wanting to to this route. NY state offers information for families such as ours, but the choices are not easy ones. Open adoption or closed? Domestic adoption or international? Private adoption or Agency? Then of course there's the financial aspect of everything which adds a layer of contemplation and complication in and of itself. We decided to build this website, and blog, to reach others out there in the area who may be considering the adoption option in upstate NY. We hope to at least help those looking for help and information and guidance as we go through the process and learn. We also decided to build this site to reach birth-mothers considering adoption for themselves for whatever reasons they might have. Maybe their baby is the right baby for us. We also hope to reach out to our friends and family and social network to help us reach our goal financially to cover the cost of adoption which includes the home study, the legal fees, the birth mother fees, and all the other things that go into the cost of bringing a child into this world through alternative means. Last, but certainly not least, we want to build a story for the child we hope to bring home, to bring into our family, so one day they can see that they were so special, that we wanted them so badly, we documented every part of the journey for them to understand how much love we have for them already, even though we've not met them yet. We look forward to learning and sharing our experience. Thank you for joining us.
